The Art of the Brick, l’exposition d\u2019\u0153uvres d’art en Lego s’installe \u00e0 Paris \u00e0 partir du 20 d\u00e9cembre 2023. Une d\u00e9ambulation surprenante parmi une centaine d\u2019\u0153uvres r\u00e9unissant un millions de briquettes, entre reproduction de chefs d\u2019\u0153uvre, portraits de c\u00e9l\u00e9brit\u00e9s ou encore parties du corps humain.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

L’Am\u00e9ricain Nathan Sawaya <\/strong>a d\u00e9laiss\u00e9 sa robe d’avocat pour s’adonner pleinement \u00e0 sa passion : les Lego<\/strong>. L’artiste construit de nombreuses \u0153uvres <\/strong>en Lego, toutes plus \u00e9tonnantes les unes que les autres, qu’il expose. Son exposition<\/a> <\/strong>The art of the brick<\/strong><\/em> s’installe \u00e0 Paris<\/strong>, pour quelques semaines, aux Galeries Montparnasse<\/strong>, qui viennent de rouvrir apr\u00e8s r\u00e9novation, du 20 d\u00e9cembre 2023 au 3 mars 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c0 l’annonce, de cette nouvelle exposition, ma r\u00e9action a d’abord \u00e9t\u00e9 de penser \u00ab\u00a0une exposition de Lego de plus<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. Car il est vrai que, ces derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les expositions d\u2019\u0153uvres en briques se multiplient, ayant souvent un th\u00e8me unique, comme Star Wars<\/em>, Harry Potter<\/em> ou les fables de la Fontaine<\/em>. Mais passant outre cette id\u00e9e re\u00e7ue, je d\u00e9cide tout de m\u00eame de visiter l’exposition<\/strong> The art of the brick<\/strong><\/em>. Et quelle ne fut pas ma surprise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non, ce n’est pas une expo Lego<\/strong> de plus parmi tant d’autres. C’est l’exposition d’un seul artiste qui d\u00e9veloppe son univers au gr\u00e9 des briques qu’il d\u00e9cline sous plusieurs th\u00e8mes. La centaine d\u2019\u0153uvres pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 Paris a n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 un million de briquettes et est expos\u00e9e dans plusieurs salles et espaces th\u00e9matiques,comme n’importe quelle expo artistique, o\u00f9 la d\u00e9ambulation est libre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chaque \u0153uvre pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e, comme au mus\u00e9e, a droit \u00e0 son cartouche d’explications, o\u00f9 figure le nombre de briques n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 sa cr\u00e9ation. Impressionnant. Nathan Sawaya propose d’abord un crayon de papier g\u00e9ant (9.800 briques) et un violoncelle dont le son \u00ab\u00a0est celui du Lego<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb avant d’inscrire les \u0153uvres suivantes dans des th\u00e9matiques plus pr\u00e9cises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ainsi sa galerie de portraits<\/strong> comporte, entre autres, ceux de Bob Dylan<\/strong>, Andy Warhol <\/strong>ou Jimi Hendrix<\/strong> (un peu plus d’un millier de pi\u00e8ces chacun), avant que le visiteur ne tombe sur une monumentale reproduction du Parth\u00e9non et ses quelques 30.000 pi\u00e8ces. Une \u0153uvre qui inaugure ensuite une partie importante de l’expo, celle o\u00f9 l’artiste reproduit des \u0153uvres d’art (peintures, sculptures…) en Lego. Au programme La nuit \u00e9toil\u00e9e<\/em> de Van Gogh qui offre un peu de relief, la V\u00e9nus de Milo<\/em>, une Joconde <\/em>pixelis\u00e9e, le second cheval chinois<\/em> de la grotte de Lascaux, la Victoire de Samothrace<\/em>, le Penseur <\/em>de Rodin ou encore la Rosace de Chartres <\/em>avec ses briques transparentes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nathan Sawaya propose des \u0153uvres en 2D ou en 3D, avec plus ou moins de relief. Cela d\u00e9pend de la fa\u00e7on dont il utilise les briques de couleur. Pour certains tableaux, comme Le Cri <\/em>de Munch ou Le Baiser<\/em> de Klimt, il a extrait les personnages du tableau pour les repr\u00e9senter devant, en sculpture, en 3D.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La partie la plus surprenante de l’expo est sans aucun doute \u00ab\u00a0Organogenesis<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb pour laquelle l’artiste a minutieusement reproduit des parties du corps humain, du poumon au cerveau en passant par les dents, l\u2019\u0153il, la thyro\u00efde le foie ou encore les intestins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mon espace pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 ? Celui nomm\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Cr\u00e2nes<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0, o\u00f9 de tr\u00e8s nombreux cr\u00e2nes en Lego<\/strong> sont expos\u00e9s, \u00e9clair\u00e9s par de jolis jeux de lumi\u00e8re dont les couleurs \u00e9voluent. La partie la plus immersive de The art of the brick<\/em> qui d\u00e9bouche, ensuite, sur la pi\u00e8ce la plus monumentale de l’expo, de squelette de T-Rex et ses quelques 80.000 briques. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour les enfants ou les plus grands amateurs de constructions en briquette, l’expo se termine par une zone interactive avec jeux vid\u00e9o et surtout milliers de pi\u00e8ces \u00e0 disposition pour b\u00e2tir sa propre coconstruction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
